Reigns, not lifetimes
Each length measures time in office — a reign or sovereign tenure — not a lifespan. The bar is drawn in proportion to the longest reign in the table.
Ancient and traditional dates are soft
A “≈” and the certainty badge flag reigns whose length is an estimate or comes from tradition. Small differences in the ranking of those entries should not be over-read.
Sovereign office only
This ranks women who reigned. Queen mothers and co-rulers who held office alongside a king are compared in the Royal Office Comparator instead, not here.
